performance of its duties, and the County Attorney shall serve as
counsel to the Board.

83-22. Reciprocity.

The Board of Electrical Examiners may certify to the Director
any applicant as qualified to be licensed, without examination by the
Board, if such applicant is currently licensed in another jurisdiction
in the State of Maryland, the District of Columbia, or Virginia, which
jurisdiction has examinations and qualification procedures which have
been found by the Board to be equivalent to those required for licens-
ing in Montgomery County, Maryland and which grants similar reci-
procity to Montgomery County licensees.

83-23. Existing Licenses.

The Board of Electrical Examiners may renew licenses under
this Chapter, without new examination, to any applicant who at the
effective date of this Act held an existing Montgomery County elec-
trical contractor's license or electrical contractor's limited license.
As to existing holders of an electrical contractor's limited license,
the Board may in granting or renewing a master electrician's limited
license designate the particular license classification for which the
licensee is qualified as provided for in Section 83-10 (b).

Sec. 3. New Article III, title "Permits, Installations and In-
spections," is hereby added to Chapter 83, title "Electricity," of the
Montgomery County Code 1965, as amended, to follow immediately
after Article II thereof, and to read as follows:

ARTICLE III. Permits, Installations and Inspections

Division 1. Permits
83-24. Generally.

(a)    Required. Except as provided in Section 83-10 of this Code,
no electrical equipment which is subject to the provisions of this
Article shall be installed until a permit therefor has been issued by
the Department of Inspection and Licenses.

(b)    Application. All applications for permits shall be in writ-
ing and in such form as may be prescribed by the Department of
Inspection and Licenses. All applications except those by homeowners
pursuant to Section 83-16 shall be signed by a master electrician or
master electrician limited. Each application shall describe the work
to be done and the location thereof and shall be accompanied by such
plans, specifications and schedules as shall be necessary to determine
whether the installation will be in conformity with the provisions of
this Article.
