company regulated by the Public Service Commission of Maryland,
and accessory wiring and equipment necessary to operate the genera-
tion, transmission and distribution systems.

83-17. Article Does Not Exempt Compliance with Electrical Codes.

Nothing in this Article shall be construed to exempt any elec-
trical work in the County from complying with the requirements of
the National Electrical Code and the Montgomery County Electrical
Code.

DIVISION 2. Electrical Board—Generally

83-18. Created; Composition.

There is hereby created a Board of Electrical Examiners com-
posed of five (5) voting members, residents of the County, constituted
as follows:

(a)     One member shall be an electrical contractor.

(b)    Three members shall be active at the time of their ap-
pointment or shall have had previous experience as an electrical
contractor, electrical contractor limited, as an electrical engineer, or
shall otherwise be technically qualified to determine proficiency in the
electrical field.

(c)    One member shall represent the general public.

(d)    A member of the office of the Montgomery County Fire
Marshal and a member of the Department of Inspection and Licenses
shall be assigned ex officio non-voting members of the Board.

(e)    The chairman of the Board shall be designated by the
Council. If the Council does not designate a chairman, the Board shall
elect its own chairman. The Board shall select a vice-chairman and
such other officers as it may desire. The vice-chairman shall in the
absence of the chairman assume all the duties and responsibilities of
the chairman.

83-19. Appointment and Terms of Members.

Members of the Board shall be appointed by the County Execu-
tive, subject to the confirmation of the Council, for three (3) year
terms, except that any member appointed to fill a vacancy occurring
prior to the expiration of a term shall be appointed for the remainder
of that term.

83-20. Compensation of Board Members.

As compensation, each member of the Board shall be paid at such
rate as the County Council shall affix from time to time by resolution.

83-21. Staff.

The County shall make available to the Board such services and
facilities of the County as are necessary or appropriate for the proper
