2800                            County Local Laws

(b)    The provisions of this Chapter shall not apply to any
electrical work or equipment installed by or for any electric company,
telegraph or telephone company, where such electrical work or equip-
ment is owned and maintained by such company and is an integral
part of the plant or service used by such company in rendering its
service to the public.

(c)    The provisions of this Chapter shall not apply to installa-
tions in mines, ships or railway cars or to automobile equipment.

(d)    The provisions of this Chapter shall not apply to installa-
tions or equipment employed by the United States government.

83-3. Administration and Enforcement of Chapter.

This Chapter shall be administered and enforced by the Depart-
ment of Inspection and Licenses, hereinafter sometimes referred to
as the "department."

83-4. Right of Entry of Departmental Personnel.

Any official or employee of the Department of Inspection and
Licenses shall have the right during reasonable hours to enter any
building or premises, except a private dwelling, in the discharge of
his official duties for the purpose of making any inspection or test of
any electrical installation or equipment contained therein, and no
person shall hinder, impede or interfere with any such official or
employee in the discharge of his official duties.

83-5. Unlawful Maintenance of Installations.

In the case of any electrical installation for which a permit is
required under this Chapter, it shall be unlawful for any person to
maintain or allow to be maintained such electrical installation if it
was installed after the effective date of this Chapter without a permit
and does not conform to the requirements hereof.

83-6. Notice to Purchasers Required—Air Conditioners, Ovens,
Cooking Units.

Any person who sells a window air conditioner, wall-mounted
oven, or any counter-mounted cooking unit shall upon such sale notify
the purchaser thereof, in writing, of the electrical wiring require-
ments of the air conditioners, wall-mounted oven or counter-mounted
cooking unit, as the case may be.

83-7. Violations and Penalty.

Any person, firm, company, corporation or partnership in viola-
tion of the provisions of this Chapter shall be guilty of a misdemeanor
and upon conviction thereof, shall be subject to a fine of not more than
one thousand dollars or imprisonment for a period not exceeding six
months, or both.
