Installations and Inspections"; by recodifying and renumbering
existing Article III, titled "Fire Alarm Systems," as new Article
IV; and by adding a new Article V, titled "Standards and
Requirements for Electrical Installations," to incorporate, as
herein amended, the provisions of the National Electrical Code
1968; to provide for inspection of electrical wiring in mobile
homes, prefabricated or modular dwellings or structures manu-
factured for sale or use in Montgomery County; to provide for a
business license requiring no technical knowledge and to provide
for the licensing, upon examination, of master electricians and
master electricians limited; to require that performance bonds
required under the Montgomery County Electrical Code expire
concurrently with the licenses issued thereunder; to require that
liability insurance be in full force and effect until 30 days follow-
ing the date on which written notice of cancellation or failure to
renew is given to the County; to provide for supervision of
electrical work by qualified licensed master electricians or master
electricians limited; to recodify and renumber existing provisions
of the Montgomery County Electrical Code which relate to the
Board of Electrical Examiners, permits, installation fees, inspec-
tions of installations, and fire alarm systems; to provide that
coded fire alarm systems be equipped with a punch register, and
to repeal obsolete provisions amending the 1965 edition of the
National Electrical Code, and to repeal provisions regarding
installations of electrical equipment now included in the National
Electrical Code 1968.
Be It Enacted by the County Council for Montgomery County,
Maryland, that—
SEC. 1. Article I, Chapter 83, title "Electrical Contractor's Li-
cense," of the Montgomery County Code 1965, as amended, is hereby
repealed and a new Article I is hereby enacted in lieu thereof to read
as follows:
ARTICLE I. Electrical Code—Generally
83-1. Short title.
This Chapter may be cited as the "Electrical Code of Mont-
gomery County."
83-2. Scope and Applicability of Chapter.
(a) Except as otherwise provided, the provisions of this
Chapter shall apply to all electrical equipment and the installation
thereof for light, heat or power within or on public or private build-
ings, structures or premises, including yards, carnivals and parking
lots, and industrial substations, and all electrical equipment, and the
installation thereof, used for power supply to radio and television
transmitting and receiving systems in or on such buildings, struc-
tures or premises, in the County.
