2730                            County Local Laws

on or let off passengers, and a commercial vehicle may likewise stand
while actually engaged in loading and unloading merchandise if no
curb space is available within a reasonable distance; provided, that
such vehicle while so parked shall not unreasonably impede or inter-
fere with orderly two-way traffic, and that on one-way streets, one
lane shall be kept open for moving traffic.

(b)    No motor vehicle or trailer shall be parked on a roadway
of any kind used by the public or on a public parking facility in such
a position so as to prevent another vehicle already stopped near the
curb or otherwise legally parked from moving away.

(c)    No motor vehicle or trailer shall be parked on a roadway
of any kind used by the public within two feet of the front or rear of
another vehicle parked at or parallel to the curb unless otherwise
designated.

(d)    No motor vehicle or trailer shall be parked across or
straddling a line marking a designated parking space.

(e)    No motor vehicle shall be parked on a public street in such
a manner as to permit the front or rear bumper to extend two feet
beyond the nearest public parking meter.

(f)    Any vehicle or trailer parked and left unattended in viola-
tion of this Section or any order or regulation of the County Execu-
tive pertaining to this Section may be removed and impounded as
provided in Section 108-2 of this Code.

(g)    It shall be unlawful for any person to park, stop or stand
on any paved sidewalk of a public street or public parking facility;
provided, however, that this subsection shall not apply in emergency
situations.

(h) The parking of any vehicle or trailer in any manner con-
trary to the provisions of this Section within the County is prohi-
bited, and the same is hereby declared to be unlawful and a
misdemeanor. Any person violating this Section shall, upon conviction
thereof by a court of competent jurisdiction, be fined not more than
fifty dollars for each violation and, in default of any fine so imposed,
shall be imprisoned for a period not to exceed thirty days for each
violation.

108-5. Authority of County Executive or his designee to regulate by
signs.

The County Executive or his designee is hereby authorized to
prohibit and otherwise regulate parking of vehicles on County
property by the erection of appropriate signs to effectuate the same.

108-7. Duty of police and other designated persons as to illegally

parked vehicles; notice to owner; penalty.

Any police officer or other authorized person designated by the
County Executive finding a vehicle or trailer parked in violation of
this Article shall attach to such vehicle or trailer a notice to the owner
