applied for and the time and place fixed for a hearing on the appli-
cation.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1972.

CHAPTER 54
(House Bill 633)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 578(b) of
Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement
Volume and 1971 Supplement), title and subtitle "Crimes and Pun-
ishments," subheading "Trespass," to prohibit hunting on private
lands in Howard County without the owner's written permission.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 578 (b) of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1971 Replacement Volume and 1971 Supplement), title and subtitle
"Crimes and Punishments," subheading "Trespass," be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

578.

(b) It shall be unlawful for any person to enter or trespass upon
the property of another for the purpose of hunting deer thereon
during the season for hunting deer with gun, rifle, bow and arrow
or any other means in Wicomico, Somerset, Howard, and Talbot
counties, unless the person shall have first secured from the owner
or person in possession of the property written permission to hunt
thereon. Any person hunting deer upon the property of another shall
exhibit his written permission to upon request of any peace officer
of the county or the owner or person in possession. The peace officer
shall upon the request of the owner or person in possession of any
property arrest any person hunting deer without the written per-
mission of the owner or person in possession. Any person violating
the provisions of this subsection shall be guilty of a misdemeanor
and upon conviction thereof shall be liable to a fine of not less than
twenty-five dollars ($25.00) and not more than five hundred dollars
($500.00).

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1972.
