Supplements), Title 1, "Administration", Subtitle 2, "Person-
nel", Article II, "Classified Service", increasing the amount of
educational assistance offered to certain permanent, full-time
classified employees.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the County Council of Anne
Arundel County, Maryland,
That Section 1-211.2 of the Anne Arundel
County Code (1967 Edition and Supplements), Title 1, "Adminis-
tration", Subtitle 2, "Personnel", Article II, "Classified Service",
be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments to
read as follows:

Section 1-211.2.

All permanent, full-time employees, in good standing, shall be
eligible for reimbursement of up to fifty per cent of direct tuition
cost incurred upon satisfactory completion of approved courses of
study which are either directly related to the employee's current
work assignment or related to a type of work to which he may
reasonably be expected to progress, or which are required courses
in an approved degree or certificate program. Such direct tuition
costs eligible for employee participation hereunder shall not include
textbooks, laboratory fees and other expenses and shall be limited to
[three] four hundred dollars ($400.00) per fiscal year. Reimburse-
ment shall be made after successful completion of each individual
course of study. Certified evidence of completion of a course and of
payment of tuition therefor must be submitted to the controller
prior to reimbursement. Any employee who successfully completes
an approved degree or certificate program hereunder shall be eligible
for reimbursement of the fifty per cent of direct tuition costs which
have not been previously reimbursed. No employee shall be eligible
for reimbursement hereunder if he is receiving financial assistance
for education from any other governmental or institutional source.
There shall be no obligation to reimburse any employee who leaves
the classified service prior to actual reimbursement. Authorization
for reimbursement hereunder shall require the written approval of
the appointing authority, the personnel officer and the budget officer.

Section 2. And be it further enacted, That this Ordinance
shall take effect forty-five (45) days from the date it becomes law.

1-215 (a) (3), 1-215 (c) (2), as amended by Bills Nos. 128-70 and
10-71, 1-215 (c) (6), 1-215 (d) (2) and 1-217 (45) of the Anne
Arundel County Code (1967 Edition and Supplements), Title 1,
"Administration", Subtitle 2, "Personnel", Article II, "Classified
Service", respectively to establish the new positions and pay
grades for Key Punch Supervisor, Tape Librarian, Data Processing
