Cottage City                                     2105

residents of said town for at least three (3) months prior to their regis-
tration, shall be eligible to register, and after registering, shall be eligible
to vote at all town elections so long as they remain bona fide residents of
said town but, unless actual residents of the town on the day of election,
shall not be eligible to vote.

Section 3. BE IT RESOLVED, ENACTED and ORDAINED, by the
Cottage City Commissioners of the Town of Cottage City, Maryland, that
Section 17-15(i) of the Code of Public Laws of Prince George's County,
Maryland, (1963 Edition), titled, "Cottage City," and subtitled "Elec-
tions," and subheaded, "Same; registration," being a part of the Charter
of the Town of Cottage City, Maryland, be, and the same is hereby
amended to read as follows:

17-15. Elections.

(i) Same; registration. Said Board of Election Supervisors shall de-
termine the qualifications and right of each applicant to register by asking
such applicant the following questions which shall be answered under
oath by such applicant: (1) Are you a citizen of the United States? (2)
Have you attained the age of [twenty-one] eighteen, years? (3) Have
you been a bona fide resident of the Town of Cottage City for at least
three months ? Should the answers of such applicant be in the affirmative
to each such questions, it shall be the duty of said Board to allow such
applicant to register. But should such applicant refuse to answer all such
questions or should the answer of such applicant be in the negative to any
such question, then such applicant shall not be allowed to register. Should
any applicant answer any such question falsely he shall be guilty of the
crime of perjury and subject to the penalties provided by the law of the
State of Maryland. Any applicant who feels that he has been aggrieved by
any rulings of said Board as to his eligibility to register may appeal to the
Circuit Court for Prince George's County which court shall determine
such appeal.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, ENACTED and ORDAINED by the
Cottage City Commissioners of the Town of Cottage City, Maryland, that
any section or sections of the Charter of the Town of Cottage City, Mary-
land, which are inconsistent with the above enacted Sections, be, and the
same are hereby repealed.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, ENACTED and ORDAINED by the
Cottage City Commissioners of the Town of Cottage City, Maryland, that
the aforegoing proposed amendment shall be posted in the Town Hall for
a period of at least forty (40) days following its adoption, and shall
further be published in the Prince George's Post once in each of four
consecutive weeks before the 26th day of March, 1971.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, ENACTED and ORDAINED by the
Cottage City Commissioners of the Town of Cottage City, Maryland, that
the proposed amendment will become and be considered a part of the
Municipal Charter of the Town of Cottage City on the 5th day of April,
1971, unless a petition is filed pursuant to Article 23(a), Section 13, of
the Annotated Code of Maryland, 1957 Edition and 1966 Replacement
Volume of said Code, as amended, said petition to be filed on or before
the 26th day of March, 1971.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, ENACTED and ORDAINED by the
Cottage City Commissioners of the Town of Cottage City, Maryland, that
the aforegoing Resolution and Ordinance be and the same is hereby
