Charter Amendment 71-1
Mayor and Town Council of Brentwood, Maryland

A RESOLUTION AND ORDINANCE to Repeal and Re-enact with
amendments Section 6-7 of the Code of Public Laws of Prince George's
County, Maryland, (1963 Edition) titled "Brentwood", and subtitled
"Voters; qualifications", being a part of the Charter of the Town of
Brentwood, Maryland and changing the voting age from twenty-one
years of age to eighteen years of age.

Section 1. BE IT RESOLVED, ENACTED AND ORDAINED by the
Mayor and Town Council of Brentwood, Maryland, that Section 6-7 of the
Code of Public Laws of Prince George's County, Maryland, (1963 Edition),
titled, "Brentwood", and subtitled "Voters; qualifications", being a part
of the Charter of the Town of Brentwood, Maryland, be and the same is
hereby repealed and re-enacted with Amendments to read as follows:

6-7. Voters; Qualifications.

All citizens of the United States of the age of [twenty-one years],
eighteen years and over who shall have actually resided within the limits
of the Town of Brentwood not less than 365 days next preceding any
regular election for Councilmen, who have never been convicted of any
infamous crime, shall be qualified voters of said town and as such shall
be entitled to register as hereinafter provided and after such registration
to vote at any election held in said town under the provisions of this sub-
title, unless they shall be thereafter disqualified by loss of citizenship,
infamous crime, in which case their name shall be striken from the regis-
tration books hereinafter provided for.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, ENACTED AND ORDAINED by
the Mayor and Town Council of Brentwood, Maryland, that any section or
sections of the Charter of the Town of Brentwood, Maryland, which are
inconsistent with the above enacted Section, be and the same are hereby
repealed.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, ENACTED AND ORDAINED by
the Mayor and Town Council of Brentwood, Maryland, that the aforegoing
proposed amendment shall be posted in the Town Hall for a period of at
least forty (40) days following its adoption, and shall be further pub-
lished in the Prince George's Post once in each of four successive weeks
before the 15th day of February, 1971.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, ENACTED AND ORDAINED by
the Mayor and Town Council of Brentwood, Maryland, that the proposed
amendment will become and be considered a part of the Municipal Charter
of the Town of Brentwood on the 23rd day of February, 1971, unless a
petition is filed pursuant to article 23 (a), Section 13, of the Annotated
Code of Maryland, 1957 Edition as amended, said petition to be filed
on or before the 15th day of February, 1971.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, ENACTED AND ORDAINED by
the Mayor and Town Council of Brentwood, Maryland, that the afore-
