Charter Amendment No. 42-71-1

RESOLUTION of The Commissioners of Cambridge adopted pur-
suant to the authority of Article 11E of the Constitution of Maryland
and Section 13 of Article 23A of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1957 Edition, as amended), title "Corporation—Municipal", to
amend the Charter of The Commissioners of Cambridge by repealing
and reenacting, with amendments, Section 50 "Powers Listed" sub-
section (49) "Property" of the Code of Public Local Laws of Dor-
chester County (1961 Edition), said Code being Article 10 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Dorchester County" subtitle
"Cambridge", adding to the authority of The Commissioners of Cam-
bridge the power to convey property held in a governmental capacity.

Section 1. BE IT RESOLVED by The Commissioners of Cambridge
that the Charter of said Municipal Corporation be, and the same is hereby
amended by repealing and reenacting said Section 50, sub-section (49) to
read as follows:

50. POWERS LISTED

(49) PROPERTY. To acquire by conveyance, purchase or gift, real
or leaseable property for any public purposes; to erect building and struc-
tures thereon for the benefit of the town and its inhabitants; and to con-
vey any real or leasehold property regardless of whether held in a govern-
mental capacity or 'proprietary capacity
when no longer needed for the
public use, after having given at least twenty days' public notice of the
proposed conveyance; to control, protect and maintain public buildings,
grounds and property of the town. The said Commissioners of Cambridge
shall have full power to accept trust funds and benefits and to act as
Trustee under any instrument devising, bequeathing or otherwise giving
money, property or other things of value for the benefit of the City of
Cambridge or other public purpose, whether such instruments shall have
been executed heretofore or hereafter.

AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resolution shall be-
come effective March 15, 1971.
