2076                               Municipal Charters

this resolution shall affect the power of the City Council of Bowie to amend
or repeal any charter provision or ordinance existing at the date of the
passage of this resolution, or to enact and ordain any ordinance which,
at the date of passage of this resolution and ordinance, or hereafter, it
may be authorized to enact and ordain.

Section 3. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that all the in-
habitants of the territory annexed to the City of Bowie by this resolution
and ordinance, shall, in all respects and to all intents and purposes, be
subject to the powers, jurisdiction and authority vested, or to be vested
by law, in the Council of the City of Bowie, or which may hereafter be
enacted or ordained by it, so far as the same may be consistent with the
provisions of this resolution and the territory so annexed shall, in all
respects be taken and considered as a part of the municipal corporation
of the City of Bowie.

Section 4. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Man-
ager of the City of Bowie shall cause a public notice to be published not
fewer than four (4) times at not less than weekly intervals in a newspaper
having a general circulation in the City of Bowie and the area to be
annexed briefly and accurately describing the proposed change and the
conditions and circumstances applicable thereto. The public notice shall
further specify that a public hearing will be held on this resolution by the
City Council of the City of Bowie at 8:00 p.m. in the City Building on
February 16, 1971.

Section 5. AND BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution
shall become effective forty-five (45) days from February 16, 1971 pro-
vided it is affirmed by the City Council of the City of Bowie on that date
and unless within the forty-five (45) days the City Council of the City of
Bowie receive a petition for referendum in accordance with the provisions
of Section 19 of Articles 23 A of the Annotated Code of Maryland, (1957
Edition and Amendments).

CONSENT TO ANNEXATION

TO: The Mayor and Council of the City of Bowie, Maryland
Gentlemen:

The City Manager, acting for the City of Bowie, which is the owner
of more than twenty-five per cent (25%) of the assessed valuation of real
property in the area proposed to be annexed, which is contiguous to and
adjoining the existing corporate area of the City of Bowie, does hereby
consent to the adoption of a resolution by your body to annex the de-
scribed property attached hereto and identified as Resolution No. R-113-70.

It is further certified that no persons reside on the property.
