2074                               Municipal Charters

the Bowie City Manager shall send separately, by registered mail, to the
Secretary of State of Maryland, and to the Department of Legislative Ref-
erence, the following information concerning the Charter Amendment;
(1) the complete text of this Resolution; (2) the date of the referendum
election, if any, held with respect thereto; (3) the number of votes cast
for and against this Resolution by the Council of the City of Bowie or in
a referendum; and (4) the effective date of the Charter Amendment.

Section 4. That the Manager of the City of Bowie be, and he is speci-
fically enjoined and instructed to carry out the provisions of Section 2
and 3 as evidence of compliance herewith; the said Manager shall cause to
be affixed to the minutes of this meeting (1) an appropriate certificate of
publication of the newspaper in which the fair summary of the Amend-
ment shall have been published; and (2) return receipts of the mailing
referred to in Section 3, and shall further complete and execute the Certifi-
cate of Effect attached hereto.

Section 5. That this Resolution and Amendment rescind Section 29
purportedly enacted March 13, 1963 to become effective on May 2, 1963.

Maryland at a Regular Meeting on January 5,1970.

Resolution of the Council of the City of Bowie, Maryland enlarging
the corporate boundaries of the City of Bowie by annexing land contiguous
and adjoining the existing corporate area.

WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Bowie, a Municipal Corpora-
tion of the State of Maryland, has determined to enlarge and extend the
limits of the City of Bowie by including therein a part of Prince George's
County contiguous and adjoining thereto in accordance with the proce-
dure set forth in Section 19 of Article 23 A of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1957 Edition and Amendments), said Article being Titled,
"Corporations—Municipal", Section 19 being a sub-heading, "Annexa-
tion"; and

WHEREAS, the proposal for change was requested by a written peti-
tion signed by all owners of real property located in the area to be annexed,
there being no persons residing in the area to be annexed; and

WHEREAS, the Council of the City of Bowie has determined to ini-
tiate a resolution, based on the aforementioned written petition, to enlarge
and extend the limits of the City of Bowie to include the hereinafter
described area and to make applicable to that area all laws of the State
of Maryland applicable to the City of Bowie and all existing charter pro-
visions and ordinances of the City which are now in force or may be
hereafter enacted;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the City
of Bowie, Maryland, in regular session assembled;

Section 1. That there is hereby annexed to the territory of the City
of Bowie, a Municipal Corporation, all of the land contiguous and adjoin-
