of Councilmen voting for and against it, a report on the votes cast for or
against the amendment hereby proposed at any referendum thereon, the
date of any such referendum and the effective date of the Charter amend-
ment hereby proposed.

THE Charter Amendment proposed by the aforegoing Resolu-
tion became effective this January 26, 1971.

Charter Amendment Resolution No. 1-70
Charter Amendment No. XVI

A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOWIE,
MARYLAND adopted pursuant to the authority of Article 11E of
the Constitution of Maryland and Section 13 of Article 23A of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition, as amended) to amend
Section 29 entitled "(Nominations)," said Section being Section 5-29
of Subtitle 5 of Article 17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Mary-
land (1963 Edition, as amended), which Article contains in whole
or in part the Charter of the City of Bowie, by repealing and re-enact-
ing with amendments said Section 29 by increasing from twenty-one
(21) to thirty (30) days the deadline for filing a certification of
nomination before an election.

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOWIE,
MARYLAND:

Section 1. That the Charter of said municipal corporation be, and
the same is hereby amended by repealing Section 29 and enacting in lieu
thereof new Section 29 to read as follows:

29. (Nominations.) Persons may be nominated for elective office in
the City of Bowie by the filing of a certificate of nomination and by the
payment of a twenty-five dollar ($25.00) filing fee with the Board of Super-
visors of Elections at least [twenty-one (21)] thirty (30) calendar days
prior to the date of election. The certificate of nomination shall contain the
following: (1) the office which the candidate is seeking, (2) the name
and signature of the candidate, (3) the [ward] election district in which
the candidate resides. No person shall file for nomination to more than one
elective public office or hold more than one elective public office at any
one time.

Section 2. That the date of the adoption of this Resolution is Janu-
ary 5, 1970 and that the amendment to the Charter of the City of Bowie,
hereby proposed by this enactment, shall be and become effective on
February 24, 1970 unless a proper petition for a referendum hereon shall
be filed by February 14, 1970, as permitted by law. A complete and exact
copy of the Resolution shall be posted in the City Municipal Building until
February 14, 1970 and a fair summary of the Amendment shall be pub-
lished in a newspaper having general circulation in the City not less than
four (4) times at weekly intervals by February 14, 1970.

Section 3. That as soon as the Charter Amendment hereby enacted
shall become effective, either as herein provided or following a referendum,
