of the State's Attorney. The deputy State's attorney's salary shall
not exceed five thousand dollars ($5,000.00). Under the direction of
the State's Attorney, the deputy State's attorney shall present cases
to the grand jury and perform such other acts and duties in relation
to the grand jury and in the operation of the office as are necessary
and proper.]

(x) In Worcester County, (1) the State's Attorney's Salary is
eight thousand dollars ($8,000.00) to be paid in equal monthly in-
stallments and the County Commissioners shall provide him with
suitable office space in the courthouse.
(2) From and after the date of the enactment of this section,
the County Commissioners of Worcester County shall pay all expenses
for the conduct of the office of the State's Attorney, including, but
not limited to, clerical and secretarial expenses, telephone charges
and any office supplies as the State's Attorney may deem necessary
for the proper conduct of his office, upon vouchers therefor sub-
mitted by the State's Attorney.
(3) The State's Attorney for Worcester County may, with the
approval of the Resident Judge of the Circuit Court for Worcester
County, appoint one member of the Bar of Worcester County as the
Deputy State's Attorney, and one member of the Bar as an Assistant
State's Attorney, the salary of each of whom shall be determined
by the Board of County Commissioners and shall be not less than
eight thousand dollars ($8,000.00) each. In addition to the Deputy
State's Attorney and one Assistant State's Attorney, the State's At-
torney for Worcester County may, after obtaining the prior approval
of the Resident Judge of the Circuit Court for Worcester County,
appoint additional Assistant State's Attorneys as he may deem
necessary, the number and salary of the additional Assistant State's
Attorneys to be approved by The Board of County Commissioners
for Worcester County.
(4) The Deputy State's Attorney and each Assistant State's At-
torney for Worcester County shall serve at the pleasure of the State's
Attorney for Worcester County, and shall possess all the authority
and power of the State's Attorney in the performance of the duties
of that office.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1972.
