or ballot labels to be used at said 11th election district the title of
this Act and underneath said title, on separate lines, a square or box
to the right of and opposite the words "For Sale of Liquor" and a
corresponding square or box to the right of and opposite the words
"Against Sale of Liquor", so that the voters of the 11th election
district shall be able to designate his or her decision for or against
the provisions of this Act. If a majority of the votes cast in said 11th
election district shall be "For Sale of Liquor" then the provisions of
this Act shall become immediately effective EFFECTIVE DECEM-
BER 7, 1972, but if a majority of the votes cast in the 11th election
district shall be "Against Sale of Liquor" then the provisions of
this Act shall be of no effect and shall be null and void.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That subject to the provisions
of Section 2 herein AND FOR THE SOLE PURPOSE OF PRO-
VIDING FOR THE REFERENDUM THEREIN REQUIRED, this
Act shall take effect on July 1, 1972.

CHAPTER 531
(House Bill 599)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 37(a) of
Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1968 Replacement
Volume), title "Alcoholic Beverages," subtitle "Local Licenses and
License Provisions," to exclude Clarksburg (2nd district) from
the election districts in Montgomery County where issuance of
alcoholic beverages are prohibited and providing for referendum
thereon.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 37(a) of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1968 Replacement Volume), title "Alcoholic Beverages," subtitle
"Local Licenses and License Provisions," be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, and to read as follows:

37.

(a) Where sale prohibited.—In Montgomery County, no license
for the sale of alcoholic beverages authorized by this article shall be
issued for any place of business located in any one of the following
election districts or towns of said county; Laytonsville (1st district),
[Clarksburg (2nd district),] Darnestown (6th district), Barnes-
ville (11th district), and Damascus (12th district), and the towns
of Kensington and Takoma Park.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That before this Act shall be-
come effective it shall first be submitted to the legally qualified voters
of the 2nd Election District of Montgomery County at the General
Election to be held in November, 1972.

There shall be printed on the ballot or ballot labels, to be used in
the election, the title of this Act and underneath the title, on separate
