AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 83A-5
(a) of the Code of Public Local Laws of Prince George's County
(1963 Edition, 1967 Supplement)-, being Article 17 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland, AS AMENDED BY CHAPTERS
467 AND 526 OF THE ACTS OF 1970), title "Prince George's
County," subtitle "Washington Suburban Transit District," and
Section 72-5(a) of the Montgomery County Code (1965), being
Article 16 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, AS
AMENDED BY CHAPTERS 467 AND 526 OF THE ACTS OF
1970), title "Montgomery County," subtitle "Washington Suburban
Transit District," to provide that the Secretary of Transportation
may designate in writing an alternate to represent him, ON THE
WASHINGTON SUBURBAN TRANSIT COMMISSION who shall
have the same rights of membership as the Secretary.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 83A-5(a) of the Code of Public LOCAL Laws of Prince
George's County (1963 Edition, 1967 Supplement), being Article
17 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, AS AMENDED
BY CHAPTERS 467 AND 526 OF THE ACTS OF 1970), title "Prince
George's County," subtitle "Washington Suburban Transit District,"
and Section 72-5(a) of the Montgomery County Code (1965), being
Article 16 of the CODE OF Public Local Laws of Maryland, AS
AMENDED BY CHAPTERS 467 AND 526 OF THE ACTS OF
1970), title "Montgomery County," subtitle "Washington Suburban
Transit District," be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
72-5(a) (83A-5(a)).
The Commission shall be composed of seven members, three to
be appointed, subject to the confirmation of the Montgomery County
Council, by the County Executive of Montgomery County who may
designate himself as one of the three members and three by the
Board of County Commissioners of Prince George's County and
the Secretary of Transportation who shall be an ex-officio member
and who shall be entitled to the same rights of membership of AS the
appointed members. The Secretary of Transportation may designate
in writing an alternate to represent him, who shall have the same
rights of membership as the Secretary. At least one commissioner
from Prince George's County shall be appointed from among the
members of the Board of County Commissioners. The other com-
missioners may be selected from among the members of the Board
of County Commissioners of Prince George's County or may be se-
lected from qualified residents of Prince George's County as the
