in order to acquire, preserve [and] or protect historical old homes
and properties in Annapolis and its vicinity and to foster apprecia-
tion of the fact that Annapolis has more pre-revolutionary buildings
than any other city in America ..... 100,000.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect

July 1, 1971.

SEC. 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, THAT THIS ACT
IS HEREBY DECLARED TO BE AN EMERGENCY MEASURE
AND NECESSARY FOR THE IMMEDIATE PRESERVATION
OF THE PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY AND HAVING BEEN
PASSED BY A YEA AND NAY VOTE SUPPORTED BY THREE-
FIFTHS OF ALL THE MEMBERS ELECTED TO EACH OF THE
TWO HOUSES OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY, THE SAME
SHALL TAKE EFFECT FROM THE DATE OF ITS PASSAGE.

CHAPTER 449

(Senate Bill 368)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 264 (c)
of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1970 Replace-
ment Volume), title "Natural Resources," subtitle "Fish and
Fisheries," subheading "Tidal Waters," to change the maximum
length of a single line of stakes in Fishing Bay, to delete the
reference to Dorchester County waters with regard to the net
stakes in the Nanticoke River and to increase the maximum length
of a single line of net stakes in the Nanticoke River.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 264 (c) of Article 66C of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1970 Replacement Volume), title "Natural Resources," sub-
title "Fish and Fisheries," subheading "Tidal Waters," be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

264.

(c) Between successive pound or stake nets in the same row clear
and unobstructed intervals of at least 200 feet shall be maintained.
No single line of net stakes, including the pound or head and the
leader or hedging, shall have a length greater than the following:

In Chesapeake Bay, south of a line from Sandy Point to Love Point
and in the Choptank River from the mouth of the Choptank River to
a line drawn from Cape Point to Drum Point—500 yards.

In Chesapeake Bay, north of a line from Sandy Point to Love
Point and south of a line from the northernmost point of Poole's
Island to Worton's Point—400 yards.

In Chesapeake Bay, north of a line from the northernmost point
of Poole's Island to Worton's Point—1,000 feet.
