OR QUALIFYING HIS WIDOW FOR A PENSION; AND
amending the laws of this State providing for benefits to be paid
the widows of these several judges; and relating generally to the
laws of this State concerning salaries, retirement, pensions and
disability and death benefits of the several Judges of the Court of
Appeals, the Court of Special Appeals, and the eight Judicial
Circuits.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That subsections (b) and (c) of Section 49 of Article 26 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1966 Replacement Volume and 1970
Supplement), title "Courts," subtitle "Pensions of Judges and Their
Widows," be and they are hereby repealed in their entirety, and that
Sections 47(a), 47(b), 47(c), 49(a), 49(g) and 50 of said Article,
subtitles "Salaries of Judges," and "Pensions of Judges and Their
Widows," be and they are hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, and that new subsection (j) be and it is hereby added
to said Section 49 of said Article 26, to follow immediately after
subsection (i) thereof, and SECTIONS 47(A), 47(B), AND 47(C)
OF ARTICLE 26 OF THE ANNOTATED CODE OF MARYLAND
(1970 SUPPLEMENT), TITLE "COURTS," SUBTITLE "SAL-
ARIES OF JUDGES," BE AND THEY ARE HEREBY REPEALED
AND RE-ENACTED WITH AMENDMENTS, all to read as fol-
lows:
47.
(A) Until June 30, 1969, the salary of the Chief Judge of the Court
of Appeals is thirty-three thousand dollars ($33,000) per annum; the
salary of each of the associate judges of the Court of Appeals is
thirty-two thousand five hundred dollars ($32,500) per annum. After
July 1, 1967, no supplementation shall be allowed of the salaries of
any of such judges. From and after July 1, [1969]1971, the salary
of the Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals is [thirty-six thousand
dollars ($36,000)] forty-three thousand five hundred dollars
($43,500) FORTY-ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($41,000) per
annum, and the salary of each of the associate judges of the Court
of Appeals is [thirty-five thousand dollars ($35,000)] forty two
thousand five hundred dollars ($42,500) FORTY THOUSAND DOL-
LARS ($40,000) per annum;
(b) Until June 30, 1969, the salary of the Chief Judge of the
Court of Special Appeals is twenty-eight thousand dollars ($28,000)
per annum, and the salary of each of the associate judges of the
Court of Special Appeals is twenty-seven thousand five hundred
dollars ($27,500) per annum. After July 1, 1967, no supplementation
shall be allowed of the salaries of any of such judges. From and after
July 1, [1969]1971, the salary of the Chief Judge of the Court of
Special Appeals is [thirty-three thousand five hundred dollars
($33,500)] Forty one thousand dollars ($41,000) THIRTY-EIGHT
THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($38,500) per annum
and the salary of each of the associate judges of the Court of Special
Appeals is [thirty-two thousand five hundred dollars ($32,500)]
forty thousand dollars ($40,000) THIRTY-SEVEN THOUSAND
FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($37,500) per annum.
(c) Until June 30, 1969, the salary paid to or allowed for each
of the judges of the several courts of the eight judicial circuits is
