AND TENANT," TO FOLLOW IMMEDIATELY AFTER SEC-
TION 43 THEREOF, AND TO BE UNDER THE NEW SUB-
TITLE "VIOLATIONS OF THE BUILDING AND ELEC-
TRICAL CODE OF BALTIMORE CITY" to revise generally the
laws pertaining to the District Court, its personnel, jurisdiction,
procedures, administration, funding, the disposition of its reve-
nues, and the punishment for certain offenses within its jurisdic-
tion, including making provision for a chief judge of said court in
addition to the other judges thereof; providing for the compensa-
tion of the chief judge; prohibiting any of said judges from prac-
ticing law while in office; correcting certain internal cross-
references to sections and subsections; providing for reimburse-
ment of local subdivisions which make contributions toward health
or group hospitalization plans of judges or other court employees,
and further providing that such contribution shall not be deemed
part of a judge's salary; enlarging the criminal jurisdiction of the
District Court to cover violations of certain State, county or munic-
ipal rules or regulations and to extend to the felonies of false
pretenses, larceny, larceny after trust, receiving stolen goods and
shoplifting when the amount of money or the value of the thing
taken, stolen, received, converted or shoplifted does not exceed
$500.00; clarifying certain provisions as to jurisdiction if some
offenses arising out of the same circumstances are within jurisdic-
tion of the District Court and other such offenses within jurisdiction
of a court of general trial jurisdiction; revising practices governing
the right to demand a jury trial in motor vehicle and criminal cases;
permitting a District Court judge to release a defendant on personal
recognizance; establishing a procedure for release on bond upon
making a deposit of money; authorizing a District Court judge to
strike a forfeiture of bond in certain cases; TO PROVIDE
