elect one of their number to be President of the County Commis-
sioners of Allegany County, who shall preside at all meetings of
said County Commissioners. The County Commissioners shall meet
at least twice in each week in the office of the County Commissioners
in the Court House, Cumberland, Maryland; but if a holiday occurs
on a meeting date or if County business requires the presence of the
County Commissioners outside the County on a meeting date, they
may meet only once in the week in which this event occurs.
Each
Commissioner shall receive as full compensation for all of his serv-
ices, the sum of twenty-four hundred dollars ($2,400) per year and
the President of the County Commissioners shall receive the sum of
two thousand six hundred dollars ($2,600) per year, all of said sal-
aries being payable semi-monthly.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1971.

CHAPTER 306
(House Bill 534)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 40 (q)
of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1968 Replace-
ment Volume and 1970 Supplement), title "Attorneys at Law and
Attorneys in Fact," subtitle "State's Attorney," pertaining only
to Prince George's County, to increase the number of full-time
assistant State's Attorneys and, TO REVISE THE SALARIES
OF THE DEPUTY AND ASSISTANT STATE'S ATTORNEYS,
AND revise the salary of the State's Attorney, Deputy and Assist-
ant State's Attorney.
TO PROVIDE FOR APPOINTMENT OF
AND SALARY LIMITS FOR ONE PRINCIPAL ASSISTANT
STATE'S ATTORNEY.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 40 (q) of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1968 Replacement Volume and 1970 Supplement), title "Attor-
neys at Law and Attorneys in Fact," subtitle "State's Attorney," be
and the same is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:

40.

(q) Prince George's County—In Prince George's County (1) the
State's Attorney's salary shall be [twenty-five] thirty thousand dol-
lars [($25,000)] ($30,000) per annum. The State's Attorney, during
his term of office, shall not, except in connection with and in the per-
formance of his duties as such State's Attorney, appear as counsel
or represent any party professionally before any court, magistrate,
board, commission or agency of this State or any county or political
subdivision of this State. It is intended by the provisions herein
that the State's Attorney shall not engage in the private practice of
law in any matter whatsoever.
