572                              Laws of Maryland                      [Ch. 272

(1967 Replacement Volume and 1970 Supplement 1971 REPLACE-
MENT VOLUME), title "Election Code," subtitle "Registration of
Voters—How and by Whom Conducted," be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

3-17.

(a) (1) When the board shall learn that a registered voter has
removed from the ward, election district or precinct in which he is
registered and within six months from the date of such removal has
not applied to the board to have his address changed on his registra-
tion records, the board shall notify the voter by United States first
class mail sent to his address as it appears on the board's registration
records that if he does not advise the board by a signed writing of
his correct address within two weeks of the date appearing on the
notice, his name will be removed from the registration records and
he will have to reregister before he can vote in future elections.

(2) Any board, upon receipt of a signed notarized authorization
from a voter to cancel his registration, shall remove that registration
from the registration records.

(b)(l) Where any voter has removed from the county or Balti-
more City, in which he is registered to vote, to another county or
Baltimore City he [shall] may apply to the board of the county or
Baltimore City to which he has removed, for registration,, provided
such voter will have been a resident of such county or of a legislative

district of Baltimore City for six months by the date of the next

general election. He shall be registered in the manner provided in
this article, and shall state the fact of his removal from such other
county or Baltimore City. The board, prior to registering a voter
who has removed from the county or Baltimore City in which he is
registered to vote, shall require that the

an authorization to cancel his previous registration.[on a form sub-
stantially as follows:]
