of the Annotated Code of Maryland or of Section 33 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Charles County, the Board shall have the power
to review the salaries paid to the Clerk to the County Commissioners
and the Assistant Treasurer. The Board shall have the power to make
changes in the salaries of such persons as it deems advisable but in
no event shall any such person be paid a salary in excess of $7,000
per annum.]

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1971.

CHAPTER 202
(House Bill 1247)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 1-18 of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Cecil County (1970 Edition, being
Article 8 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title
"Cecil County," subtitle "Administration," subheading "Article II.
County Commissioners," to provide an expense account for the
County Commissioners of Cecil County, including mileage ex-
penses, and to provide a general expense fund for the office of the
commissioners for certain purposes.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 1-18 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Cecil County
(1970 Edition, being Article 8 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland), title "Cecil County," subtitle "Administration," subhead-
ing "Article II. County Commissioners," be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

1-18.

The County Commissioners of Cecil County shall receive an annual
salary of thirty-five hundred dollars in lieu of all other compensa-
tion and shall be allowed fifteen hundred dollars to cover all ex-
penses incurred in the performance of their duties as county com-
missioners, and shall be required to devote all of their time to the
duties of said office. Beginning with the terms of office commencing
after the 1966 general election, and thereafter, the county commis-
sioners shall receive a salary of sixty-five hundred dollars per year
[in lieu of any other compensation or expense allowance of any
kind]. They shall receive seven hundred and fifty dollars per year to
cover expenses, provided that the President of the Board shall receive
an additional two hundred and fifty dollars. In addition, each com-
missioner shall be allowed expenses of ten cents per mile for two
round trips per week from the commissioner's home to the office of
the County Commissioners in Elkton, Maryland. For all other mile-
age expenses, each commissioner must submit a voucher to the
County Treasurer in order to be reimbursed.

The Treasurer shall also provide a fund of nine hundred dollars
per year to cover the expenses of the office for those activities that
