CHAPTER 179
(House Bill 920)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 40 (h) of
Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1968 Replacement
Volume and 1970 Supplement), title "Attorneys At Law and Attor-
neys In Fact," subtitle "State's Attorney," to increase the num-
ber of assistant State's attorneys in Cecil County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 40 (h) of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1968 Replacement Volume and 1970 Supplement), title "Attorneys
At Law and Attorneys In Fact," subtitle "State's Attorney," be and
it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:

40.

(h) In Cecil County, (1) the State's Attorney's salary is twelve
thousand five hundred dollars ($12,500) per annum. In addition to
the compensation provided for in this section, the State's Attorney,
for the operation of his office and the performance of his duties,
shall be entitled to a reasonable expense allowance which shall be
subject to the approval of the Board of County Commissioners.

(2)    The State's Attorney may appoint [two] three assistant
State's attorneys to serve at the pleasure of the State's Attorney.
The assistant State's attorneys' salary is five thousand dollars
($5,000.00) per annum.

(3)    The assistant State's attorneys shall have the same legal
powers as the State's Attorney to represent the State before grand
juries and in the trial of criminal proceedings.

(4)    The State's Attorney's appropriation for special work and
the employment of extra help is five hundred dollars ($500), to be
spent only with the approval of the judge of the Circuit Court.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1971.

CHAPTER 180
(House Bill 924)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 21 (g)
of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1968 Replace-
ment Volume), title "Alcoholic Beverages," subtitle "Beer, Wine
and Liquor Licenses," to authorize the Board of License Commis-
sioners of Howard County to issue a limited Class D beer, wine
and liquor license restricting the sale of alcoholic beverages for on
premises consumption and establishing licensing fees for such
licenses.
