Bill No. 14-70

AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to add new Sections 11-410A and
11-410B to the Anne Arundel County Code (1967 Edition and
Supplements), Title 11, "Health and Welfare", Subtitle 4, "Sanitary
Landfills", to follow immediately after Section 11-410 thereof,
providing rate schedules for disposal of waste and authority for
administering County owned and operated sanitary landfills.

Section 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF
ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MARYLAND, that new Sections 11-410A
and 11-410B be and they are hereby added to the Anne Arundel County Code
(1967 Edition and Supplements), Title 11, "Health and Welfare", Subtitle
4, "Sanitary Landfills", to follow immediately after Section 11-410 thereof
and to read as follows:

Section 11-410A

(a)    The following charges are hereby established for the disposal of
solid wastes at Anne Arundel County owned and operated sanitary landfills:

Passenger Vehicles                                   No Charge

Pickup Trucks and Passenger Vehicle

Trailers REGISTERED AND TITLED $ 3.00
IN ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY BY
THE DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR
VEHICLES'................................................ $ 1.00

PICKUP TRUCKS AND PASSENGER
VEHICLE TRAILERS NOT REGIS-
TERED AND TITLED IN ANNE
ARUNDEL COUNTY BY THE DE-
PARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES $ 3.00

Flatbed, Vans and Dump Trucks to 10 tons $10.00

Packer Type Collection Vehicles ................ $ 1.05 per cubic yard of

rated capacity

(b)    The above rates shall not be applicable in those instances in
which the County is contractually obligated to provide a sanitary landfill
facility.

Section 11-410B

(a) The Director of Public Works is hereby granted full power and
authority to do any and all of the following:

(1)    Adopt and promulgate rules, regulations, orders and directives
relating to the administration and operation of County owned and operated
sanitary landfills.

(2)    Establish operating hours and schedules for the use of County
owned and operated landfills.

(3)    To prohibit the acceptance of solid wastes which may prove
detrimental to the operation and projected life of the County owned and
operated sanitary landfills.

(4)    To prohibit the acceptance of solid wastes generated from out-
side the boundaries of Anne Arundel County at County owned and operated
