be and it is hereby added to the Anne Arundel County Code (1967 Edition
and Supplements), Title 14, "Police", Subtitle 3, "Police and Fire Service
Retirement", to follow immediately after Section 14-314 (b) thereof, and to
read as follows:
Section 14-314 (c)
Any Police Officer who retired on or before July 1, 1966, including
retirement due to disability, and who is receiving pension payments as of
the effective date of this bill, shall have the amount of his pension adjusted
as follows:
If the average of the twelve most recently published monthly indices
of the Consumer Price Index—U. S. City Average—All items—(1957-1959
base) increases as of January 1, 1970, or any January JULY 1 thereafter,
over the corresponding average index as of the police officer's date of
retirement (or January 1, 1960, whichever is later), then the amount of
his monthly pension payable thereafter shall be increased by the same
percentage by which such average index exceeds the corresponding average
index as of his date of retirement or January 1, 1960, whichever is later.
Section 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, that this ordinance
shall take effect forty-five (45) days from the date it becomes law.

AN ORDINANCE to repeal and re-enact Bill No. 81-67, as amended
by Bill No. 44-69, legalizing and adopting Supplement No. 4, 6-69
to the Code of Anne Arundel County, Maryland (1967 Edition),
as prepared and published by the Michie City Publications Company,
Charlottesville, Virginia, and making it evidence of the law of Anne
Arundel County, Maryland.
Section 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF
ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MARYLAND, That Supplements "1-67",
"9-67", [and] "9-68" and "No. 4, 6-69" to the Code of Anne Arundel
County, Maryland (1967 Edition), as prepared and published by the Michie
City Publications Company, Charlottesville, Virginia, be and they are [it
is] hereby legalized, adopted and made evidence of the laws of Anne Arun-
dal County, Maryland.
Section 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That it is the intention
of the County Council that the sections, paragraphs, sentences, clauses
and phrases of the Supplement hereby adopted LEGALIZED are severable,
and if any phrase, clause, sentence, paragraph or section of the Supplement
hereby adopted LEGALIZED shall be declared unconstitutional or other-
wise invalid by the valid judgment or decree of a court of competent juris-
diction, such unconstitutionality or invalidity shall not affect any of the
remaining phrases, clauses, sentences, paragraphs and sections of the Sup-
plement hereby adopted LEGALIZED.
Section 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Ordinance
shall take effect forty-five (45) days from the date it becomes law.
