oil, gas, steam or coal; lighting fixtures, refrigeration and air conditioning
equipment; illuminating signs and similar specialities; or limited to equip-
ment for a plant, factory, apartment complex or any other public occupance
employing maintenance forces, fire alarm systems and electronic equip-
ment employing the use of electrical current or connection.

Electrical Equipment. The term "electrical equipment" shall include
electrical conductors, raceways, wiring fittings, devices, appliances, fix-
tures, apparatus, and any other equipment coming within the purview of
the Montgomery County and National Electrical Codes.

Electrical Code. The term "Electrical Code" shall include the latest
editions, and all amendments thereto, of the National Electrical Code and
the Montgomery County Electrical Code, titled Ordinance 2-51, March 18,
1952, codified as Sections 83-1 through 83-21, Montgomery County Code
1965, as amended.

Install, Repair or Maintain. The term "install, repair or maintain"
shall include all installations, repairs or maintenance of any or all elec-
trical equipment or circuits, or any parts thereof, including new work,
alterations, renewals or extensions coming within the purview of this Arti-
cle and the National and Montgomery County Electrical Codes.

Sec. 83-23. Licenses and Permits Required.

It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, company, corporation or
partnership to install, repair or maintain any electrical circuit, electrical
equipment or electrical apparatus unless such person, firm, company, cor-
poration or partnership shall have first been granted by Montgomery
County, Maryland, a license, if required by this chapter, entitling the
licensee to perform such work, and further, that no such repairs or instal-
lations shall be made by any licensee until a permit has been issued by
Montgomery County, Maryland for such work.

Sec. 83-24. Applicants, Examinations, and Fees.

(a)    A person acting in his own behalf, or as an agent of a firm,
company, corporation or partnership, who desires to enter into, or engage
in the business, of electrical contracting or certain limited types of elec-
trical installations or repairs, as provided for by this Article and coming
within the purview of the National Electrical Code and the Montgomery
County Electrical Code, may at any time make application to the director
to be examined and the director shall provide the applicant with the pre-
scribed forms.

(b)    Applicants shall possess and meet the following requirements
which are prerequisite to examination:

1.   An applicant for examination for an "electrical contractor's li-
cense" shall have been regularly and principally employed or engaged in
the profession or business of electrical construction, maintenance, instal-
lation, repair or design of all types of electrical equipment and apparatus,
all coming within the purview of and subject to all provisions of this
Article, for a period of not less than four (4) years.

2.   An applicant for an "electrical contractor's limited license" shall
pass the examination of the board as to his qualifications and knowledge
of the field or fields of the particular specialty in which he requests a
license. An applicant may be licensed hereunder for a particular type of
electrical installation or may be licensed for all types or as many types of
