limited electrical installations as defined herein and for which he shall be
found qualified by the board. The type of limited licenses shall be set forth
in regulations of the board. Particular license classifications shall include,
without limiting, licenses for electrical connections and circuits to air
conditioning, elevators, gasoline pumps, automatic heating, lighting, illu-
minating signs, and similar specialties, and electrical repair and mainte-
nance work, in plants, factories, apartment complexes and any public occu-
pance employing maintenance forces, fire alarm systems and electronic
equipment employing the use of electrical current or connection. The con-
ditions of the license shall plainly appear on the license.
3. An applicant for an electrical contractor's license or limited li-
cense shall furnish such information as shall be required on an application
form approved by the board as to his character references, financial respon-
sibility, and his experience, training, and education in the profession or
business of electrical construction or maintenance, installation, repair or
design of all types of electrical equipment and apparatus, or of the par-
ticular type of installation for which a limited license is requested, all
coming within the purview of and subject to all provisions of this Article.
(c) It shall be the duty of the director upon receipt of application
to investigate the character, experience, training, and education of the
applicant and to provide such information to the board. Before the issu-
ance of a license, it shall be the further duty of the director to ascertain
from reliable sources the applicant's record of compliance with the laws of
the State of Maryland and Montgomery County. The board may request
further investigations, and conduct written or oral examination of the
applicant, at its discretion. On the basis of the aforegoing information, it
shall be the board's duty, within thirty (30) days after submission of an
application for a license, unless the time is extended for good cause, to
certify to the director whether the applicant is qualified to be licensed and
to notify the applicant. In no case shall denial of certification be unrea-
sonable and the denial shall be in writing, stating the reason, and shall be
personally served or mailed by certified mail to the address on the appli-
cation. Any denial may be appealed to the county board of appeals by
filing notice of appeal with the clerk of the appeals board not later than
ten (10) days after such notice is personally served or mailed.
(d) At the time of filing an application, the applicant shall pay to
the county a fee as set forth below:
1. Electrical Contractor's License ...................................... $25.00
2. Electrical Contractor's Limited License ...................... $15.00
Filing fees may be revised from time to time by regulation of the
county executive, not to exceed the reasonable cost of processing license
applications. Such fees shall not be returnable under any circumstances,
except in the event the applicant shall become incapacitated after filing
such application and is not able to take the examinations as provided for
by this Article.
(e) Any applicant who fails to pass any examination shall be af-
forded an opportunity to take re-examination within such reasonable time
or times as the board may designate. Any person taking such a re-exami-
nation shall apply to the director for permission to do so and shall pay to
the county the sum of five dollars ($5.00), or as may be determined by
regulation of the executive. Grades on his examinations shall be available
for inspection only by the applicant for a period of six (6) months after
the examination.
