3.404—Permits and Inspection

A SCHEDULE OF FEES' for the issuance of permits for plumbing
work shall be prescribed and published by the Chief, Bureau of Licenses,
Inspections and Permits, or by the
appropriate rule or regulation of the
Director of Public Works. The Chief, Bureau of Inspections, Licenses,
and Permits, shall cause all plumbing work to be inspected BY THE
PLUMBING INSPECTION DIVISION, for compliance with the Plumbing
Code, except, that, upon his determination in writing with reasons, he
may accept, in lieu of inspection a certificate in due form of law from a
duly qualified and registered PROFESSIONAL MECHANICAL engineer
that plumbing work performed under the personal supervision and con-
trol of the said engineer has been installed and conducted in accordance
with all provisions of the Plumbing Code. Such determination to accept
an engineer's certificate in lieu of inspection shall not preclude the Chief,
Bureau of Inspections, Licenses and Permits, from also causing inspections
to be made of the said work at any stage thereof by the Plumbing Inspec-
tion Division.

3.405—Bond

Each person engaging in the plumbing business in Howard County
shall be licensed as set forth hereinafter and shall execute and deliver to
the Director of Public Works a good and sufficient bond, in such form and
with such surety or sureties as the Director WILL ADVISE, AS SET
FORTH OF THE PLUMBING CODE ADVISORY COMMITTEE may
approve, in the penalty of Twenty-five Hundred Dollars ($2,500.00), sav-
ing harmless and indemnifying all officials of Howard County, Maryland,
a municipal corporation, from any action or cause of action at law or in
equity which does, may or could arise from or out of the licensee's failure
or neglect to comply with the provisions of the Plumbing Code AND IN-
DEMNIFYING HOWARD COUNTY, MARYLAND, FOR THE LOSS
OF OR DAMAGE TO ANY COUNTY PROPERTY.

3.406—Licenses

Any person licensed CERTIFIED AS A MASTER PLUMBER by
the Maryland State Board of Commissioners of Practical Plumbing shall
be entitled to a license in Howard County upon the posting of the bond
required by this subtitle and upon the payment of such recordation fee
therefor as the Director may in his rules and regulations provide and the
Council may by its Resolution approve.

Section 2. Be it further enacted by the County Council of Howard
County, Maryland,
That this Act shall take effect sixty (60) days after its
enactment.

This Bill, having been approved by the Executive and returned to the
Council, stands enacted on May 6, 1970.
