State. Applicants therefor shall submit an application in form pre-
pared by the State Scholarship Board which shall demonstrate the
applicant's merit and his eligibility under subsection (c) above. From
the qualified applicants admitted by the training centers for teachers
of the deaf, the State Scholarship Board shall select 10 persons, and
alternates in such number as to assure that 10 scholarships shall
actually be awarded and accepted annually.

(e)  The scholarships shall be held for one year, and may be re-
newed for an additional year at the option of the training center for
teachers of the deaf. Each scholarship shall be in an amount equal
to the costs of tuition for one year at the training center for teachers
of the deaf as stated in its most recent catalogue. The amount of
scholarship aid shall be paid by the State Scholarship Board to the
training center for teachers of the deaf.

(f)  Funds for scholarships hereunder and for necessary adminis-
trative expenses shall be included in the budget from year to year
beginning with the fiscal year 1972-1973. Any of such funds remain-
ing unused at the end of the fiscal year shall revert to the general
funds of the State treasury.

(G) EACH RECIPIENT OF A SCHOLARSHIP UNDER THIS
SECTION, AFTER CERTIFICATION AS A TEACHER FOR THE
DEAF, SHALL TEACH IN A SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF IN THE
STATE FOR A MINIMUM PERIOD OF ONE YEAR FOR EACH
YEAR A SCHOLARSHIP UNDER THIS SECTION WAS HELD
BY THE RECIPIENT.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1971.

CHAPTER 655
(Senate Bill 339)

AN ACT to repeal Section 104 of Article 2B of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1968 Replacement Volume), title "Alcoholic Bev-
erages," subtitle "Hours and Days for Sale," and to enact new
Section 104 in lieu thereof, to stand in the place of the section
repealed, to remove the general restrictions on the sale of alcoholic
beverages on Sundays and to remove the restrictions on the hours
an establishment may be open in St. Mary's County, and to provide
that the hours a liquor licensee in St. Mary's County may sell those
alcoholic beverages for which he is licensed shall be from 6 o'clock
a.m. until 2 o'clock a.m. daily, including Sunday, and to permit
consumption to continue for one-half hour thereafter ONLY ON
SUNDAY.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 104 of Article 2B of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1968 Replacement Volume), title "Alcoholic Beverages," subtitle
"Hours and Days for Sale," be and it is hereby repealed and new
