157P.

This subtitle shall be administered by the Gasoline Tax Division
of the Maryland Office of the
Comptroller which shall:

(a) Authorize and identify vehicles which cannot properly oper-
ate on gas, meeting requirements set forth in any other section of
this subtitle, and authorize legitimate exceptions thereto on request
of the owner.

(b) Make regular inspections of all establishments selling or dis-
tributing gasoline and test for the lead content of the gasoline.

THIS SUBTITLE SHALL BE ADMINISTERED BY THE GAS-
OLINE TAX DIVISION OF THE MARYLAND OFFICE OF THE
COMPTROLLER WHICH SHALL MAKE REGULAR INSPEC-
TIONS OF ALL ESTABLISHMENTS SELLING OR DISTRIBUT-
ING GASOLINE AND TEST FOR LEAD CONTENT OF THE
GASOLINE.

157-Q.

(A)  Competitive motor vehicles engaged in organized racing may
purchase gasoline with a lead content in excess of that prohibited by
this subtitle but only at the actual racing site.

(B)   OPERATORS OF PLEASURE BOATS, WORK BOATS,
AIRPLANES, ALL FARM EQUIPMENT, AND CONSTRUCTION
EQUIPMENT MAY PURCHASE GASOLINE WITH A LEAD
CONTENT IN EXCESS OF THAT PROHIBITED BY THIS SUB-
TITLE, BUT ONLY FOR USE IN SAID BOATS, AIRPLANES,
FARM OR CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT.

This subtitle shall not affect the sale, distribution or use of any
motor vehicle fuel other than gasoline.

157S.

Any person, copartnership or corporation, or any member, officer,
agent or employee of any copartnership or corporation who shall
KNOWINGLY violate any provisions of this subtitle or aid or assist
in the violation, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon convic-
tion thereof, shall be punishable by a fine of not less than One Hun-
dred Dollars ($100.00) or not more than Five Thousand Dollars
($5,000.00), or imprisonment for not less than ten (10) days or more
than one (1) year, or both.

The Attorney General may institute civil proceedings in the courts
to forfeit the charter of any corporation organized under the laws
of this State, to revoke the permit authorizing any foreign corpora-
tion to carry on business in this State, or to enjoin the operation of
any business other than a corporation when the provisions of this
subtitle are violated.

157U.

Prior to January 1, 1972, the Governor of Maryland shall send to
the President of the United States a message on behalf of the people
