amount, if any, by which the equivalent of $1.50 per capita exceeds
the total payments determined under subparagraphs (1) and (2).
No subdivision FOR WHICH THE POPULATION ESTIMATE IS
LESS THAN THE POPULATION ESTIMATED FOR THE FIRST
YEAR OF THIS GRANT shall receive in any year a smaller amount
of State Aid for Police Protection than it received in any previous
year LESS 0.09% OF THE INCREASE OF THE WEALTH BASE
BETWEEN THAT PREVIOUS YEAR AND THE CURRENT
YEAR, provided it has not reduced the level of expenditure for police
protection which entitled it to the amount of that previous year's
grant.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1971.

AN ACT to repeal Section 146A of Article 77 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1970 Supplement), title "Public Education,"
subtitle "Chapter 13. Nonpublic Schools," and to enact new
Section 8-31A SECTIONS 8-31A AND 8-31B to the Code of Public
Local Laws of Washington County (1970 Edition, being Article
22 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Washing-
ton County," subtitle "County Commissioners," subheading "Gen-
eral,'' to follow immediately after Section 8-31 thereof, to provide
transportation for children attending certain schools in Washing-
ton County, AND RELATING GENERALLY THERETO.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 146A of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1970 Supplement), title "Public Education," subtitle "Chapter
13. Nonpublic Schools," be and it is hereby repealed; and that
new Sections 8-31A be and it is SECTIONS 8-31A AND 8-31B BE
AND THEY ARE hereby added to the Code of Public Local Laws
of Washington County (1970 Edition, being Article 22 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Washington County," sub-
title "County Commissioners," subheading "General," to follow im-
mediately after Section 8-31 thereof, and to read as follows:
[146A. School bus transportation in Washington County.
The Washington County Board of Education shall provide school
bus transportation for students attending Washington County non-
public schools, as defined in this subtitle, if the Board deems the
providing of such transportation to be feasible and in the public
interest.]
