EDUCATION and who reside on or along or near to a public high-
way of Washington County on which there is now or hereafter oper-
ated a public school bus or conveyance provided by the Board of
Education of Washington County for transporting children to and
from public schools of Washington County, shall MAY be entitled
to transportation on the buses or conveyances; this transpor-
tation shall MAY be provided the students by the Board of Edu-
cation of Washington County, subject to the conditions hereinafter
set forth, from a point on the public highway nearest or most acces-
sible to the students' respective homes to a point on the public
highway nearest or most accessible to their respective schools; the
transportation herein provided for shall be supplied upon the same
terms and conditions as are now or as may hereafter be established
by the Board of Education of Washington County for children at-
tending public schools.

THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF WASHINGTON COUNTY
ARE HEREBY AUTHORIZED TO APPROPRIATE ANNUALLY
TO THE BOARD OF EDUCATION OF WASHINGTON COUNTY
FROM ANY FUNDS RECEIVED BY WASHINGTON COUNTY
FOR ANY GENERAL COUNTY PURPOSE SUCH SUM AS MAY
BE REQUIRED TO ENABLE THE BOARD OF EDUCATION TO
DEFRAY ANY COSTS INCURRED BY THE BOARD OF EDU-
CATION IN CARRYING INTO EFFECT THE PROVISIONS OF
SECTION 8-31A.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1971.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 195(1) (b)
of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1969 Replace-
ment Volume) title "Public Education," subtitle "Chapter 17.
Teachers Retirement System," in order to allow the State Superin-
tendent of Schools to approve service past age 70.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 195(1) (b) of Article 77 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1969 Replacement Volume) title "Public Education," subtitle
"Chapter 17. Teachers Retirement System," be and it is hereby re-
pealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

(1)(b) Any member in service who has attained the age of 70
shall be retired forthwith provided that with the approval of the
State Board of Education or the State Superintendent of Schools
