under contract, insofar as the provisions of said section relate to an
item contained in said Act for the University of Maryland re-
lating to construction of additions to the Chemical Engineering
Building including air conditioning, contingent upon and supple-
mentary to Federal funds being made available to the University
of Maryland; to an item contained in said Act for the planning
and preparation of Dining Hall No. 1 including air conditioning;
to an item contained in said Act relating to equipment for Animal
Farm Holding Facility; to an item contained in said Act relating
to construction of an addition to Howard Hall including air con-
ditioning, contingent upon and supplementary to Federal funds
being made available to the University of Maryland; and to an
item contained in said Act relating to swimming pool equipment;
and to extend for two years the period during which the said
items may be placed under contract.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the provisions of Section 10 of Chapter 409 of the Acts of 1969,
be and they are hereby waived insofar as they impose a time limit
for placing under contract an item, in Section P(l)(g), in said
Chapter 409, and found on Page 1017 of the Laws of 1969, making
available to the University of Maryland, College Park, the sum of
$860,000.00 contingent upon and supplementary to federal funds
being made available to the University of Maryland for the construc-
tion of additions to the Chemical Engineering Building, including
air conditioning; an item, in Section P(l) (1), in said Chapter 409,
and found on Page 1018 of the Laws of 1969, making available to
the University of Maryland, College Park, the sum of $85,000.00 for
the planning and preparation of detailed plans and specifications for
conversion of Dining Hall No. 1, including air conditioning; an item,
in Section P(2) (c), in said Chapter 409, and found on Page 1018 of
the Laws of 1969, making available to the University of Maryland,
Baltimore, the sum of $39,000.00 for equipment for Animal Farm
Holding Facility; an item, in Section P(2)(d), in said Chapter 409,
and found on Page 1018 of the Laws of 1969, making available to the
University of Maryland, Baltimore, the sum of $5,918,000.00, con-
tingent upon and supplementary to federal funds being made avail-
able to the University of Maryland for the construction of an addi-
tion to Howard Hall, including air conditioning; an item, in
Section P(3) (c), in said Chapter 409, and found on Page 1019 of the
Laws of 1969, making available to the University of Maryland,
Maryland State College, the sum of $4,800.00 for swimming pool
equipment. There shall be allowed an additional period of two years,
beginning on the effective date of this Act, for placing these projects
under contract. If these projects shall not have been placed under
contract within a period of two years, beginning on the effective dae
DATE of this Act, then it shall be deemed to have been abandoned
and the other provisions of Section 10 of Chapter 409 of the Acts of
1969 shall be fully effective as to these projects.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
June 1, 1971.
