407 The 21.st day of April 1759 Came Charles Carroll Esq Party to the within Deed before me the subscriber ^one^ of his Lordships Justices of the Provincial Court and Acknowledged the within Deed to be his Act & Deed and the Lands and Premisses therein mentioned to be the Right and Estate of the within named Benjamin Tasker Esq according to the true Intent & meaning of the ^said^ Deed And at the same time Came Elizabeth the wife of the said Charles Carroll who being by me privately examined & out of the hearing of her said Husband declared that she freely and voluntarily relinquished & gave up all her Right of Dower in the said Land & that she did the same freely & voluntarily & that she was not induced thereto by fear or Threats of her said Husband or fear of his Displeasure Acknowledged before me the day and year above written Geo Steuart May the 1.st 1759 Received of Benjamin Tasker Esq.r Two pounds thirteen shillings and one penny half penny Sterling for his Lordships use it being the Alienation fine on the within mentioned Land by virtue of a Commission from Edward Lloyd Esq his Lordships Agent and Receiver general Rich.d Dorsey 20d Recorded the 30.th April 1759 x.d Maryland fs.t This Indenture made this ninth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Fifty nine Between Joseph Miles of Frederick County Planter of the one part and David Ross of Prince Georges County Surgeon of the other part Witnesseth that the said Joseph Miles for and in Consideration of the sum of forty seven pounds thirteen shillings |
