       up the said Branch till it comes to the Cool Spring Branch and then up the said
       Cool Spring Branch till it comes to a spreading Oak standing at the head of the Spring of
       the said Branch and then running North or Northerly to a Hickory near the head of a
       small Branch that maketh out of a Pecosin and from thence the same Course to the
       East line of Goughs Purchase then West with the said line to the end thereof and thence
       to the beginning on the afsd Joseph Smith the Younger his Heirs and Assigns for ever
       and all the residue of the Premisses on the aforesaid Joseph Smith the Elder during
       his Natural Life and after his Decease All that Parcel of Land being part of the
       said Residue Beginning at the Spring Branch Opposite to the Mouth of the Lane where
       it now stands and has done for many Years and running thence with a South Course
       till it Intersects the West line of the aforesaid Land called Goughs Purchase and
       running thence with the West Course down to a marked Bound Oak standing in
       Harvey's old Field and from thence with a streight line to the aforesaid Spring Branch
       and then with the Branch to the Beginning which said Parcel of Land is
       part of Gough's Purchase and Smiths Chance aforesaid on Mordecai Smith Son
       and Heir of Nathan Smith deceased his Heirs and Assigns forever And all that
       Parcel of Land whereon Joseph Smith the Elder Dwells being the remaining
       part of the residue aforesaid of the Premisses aforesaid on William Smith his
       Heirs and Assigns for ever   Now this Indenture Witnesseth
       that the aforesaid Joseph Smith the Elder for and in Consideration of the
       Natural Love and Affection which he hath and beareth to the aforesaid Joseph
       Smith the Younger and William Smith the Son of the said Joseph Smith the Elder
       and Mordecai Smith the Son and Heir of Nathan Smith who was one of the
       Sons of the aforesaid ^Joseph^ Smith the Elder and in Pursuance of the Premisses and to
       declare the Uses of the aforesaid Recovery so as aforesaid had and suffered and
       also for and in Consideration of the Sum of Five Pounds Sterling Money     
       in hand paid to the aforesaid Joseph Smith the Elder the Receipt whereof
       is hereby Acknowledged and for divers other good Causes and Considerations
       him the aforesaid Joseph Smith the Elder in this behalf moving hath given
       Granted Bargained and Sold Release and Confirmed and by these Presents
       Doth give grant Bargain and Sell Release and Confirm Two hundred and fifty
       Acres of Plantable Land ^lying^ with the Appurtenances in Calvert County the said Two
       hundred and fifty Acres being part of a Tract or Parcel of Land called Goughs
       Purchase, And also one hundred and fifty Acres of Plantable Land lying in
       Calvert County being part of a Tract or Parcel of Land called Smiths Chance
       and also fifty Acres of Plantable Land lying with the Appurtenances in
       Calvert County being part of a Tract or Parcel of Land called Mardike
       unto the afsd Joseph Smith the Younger his Heirs and Assigns for ever
       To have and to hold the same to the said Joseph Smith the Younger
