       and is meant and intended and by the said Parties and every of them is hereby declared to
       be and enure and the said John Handy and his Heirs from and immediately after suffering
       the same shall stand and be Seized of all and singular the said Messuages Tenement
       Lands and Hereditaments above mentioned and every part and parcel thereof with
       the Appurtenances to and for the only proper Use and Behoof of him the said Benj.a
       Handy his Heirs and Assigns forever and to and for no other Use Intent or Purpose
       whatsoever   In Witness whereof the Partys aforesaid to this Indenture Interchangeably
       their several hands have set and Seals Affixed the day and Year first above Written

           On the Back of the aforegoing Deed was thus Endorsed Viz.t

       Maryland to wit   Be it Remembered that on the first day of September in the Year
       of our Lord God One Thousand Seven hundred fifty and two Personally appeared
       before me one of the Right Honble the Lord Propry his Justices of the Provincial Court
       all the Partys to the within Deed and Acknowledged the same in due form of Law

Ex.d This Indenture made this Twelfth day of May One Thousand Seven hundred and
       fifty two Between James Edmonston of Prince Georges County Gentleman of the one part and
       Charles Carroll of the City of Annapolis Esq.r on the other part Witnesseth That the said James
       Edmonston for and in Consideration of the Sum of Three hundred forty eight Pounds nine Shill.s
       and six Pence Sterling to him in hand paid by the said Charles Carroll before the Ensealing and
       Delivery of these Presents the Receipt whereof he doth hereby Acknowledge Hath Given
       Granted Bargained & Sold and by these Presents Doth Give Grant Bargain and Sell unto
       the said Charles Carroll his Heirs and Assigns for ever All those Tracts or Parcels of Land
       herein after mentioned Together with the several Negroes herein also mentioned Viz.t All
       that Tract or Parcel of Land called Yarrow Containing about four Hundred and ten Acres
       part of a Tract of Land called Brothers Content Containing about three hundred & Sixty Acres
       Batchelors Forest Containing four hundred and five Acres, also another Tract of Land
       called Prevention also ^all^ his the said James Edmonstons part of a Tract of Land called the
       Labyrinth and the following Negro Men Cook Sharper Ben Tom Peter Anthony al
       as also the following Negro Women Bab Dill Candys and a Negro Child called Clary
       being in all Ten Negroes To have and to hold the said Tracts of Land called Yarrow
       Brothers Content, Batchelors Forest, Prevention, Labyrinth and the above recited
                                                                                                                         (Slaves)
