293) On the Back of the aforegoing Deed was thus Endorsed Viz.t Received on the day and Year within mentioned of the within named Benedict Calvert the Sum of Sixty Pounds Sterling being in full for the Consideration Money therein mentioned to be by him paid to me Witness David Ross Ja.s Edmonston Jn.o Brice On the 22.d of August 1752 Came the within named James Edmundson before me the Subscriber one of his Lordships Justices of the Provincial Court and Acknowledged the within Instrument of Writing to be his Act and Deed and the Lands and Premisses therein mentioned to be the Right and Estate of the within named Benedict Calvert according to the true Intent and meaning thereof And also Mary the Wife of the afsd James Edmundson party afsd who also being by me Examined privately out of the hearing of her said Husband did declare and Acknowledge the within mentioned Lands and Premisses to be the Right and estate of the said Benedict Calvert party within mentioned his Heirs and Assigns according to the true Intent and meaning thereof and did further freely declare that she did by this Acknowledgment release and did thereby intend to release all her Right and Title of Dower to the within mentioned Premisses and that she made this Acknowledgment of her own free will and Consent without any Compulsion or Threats from her said Husband or for fear of his Displeasure Jn.o Brice August the 31.st 1752 Received of Benedict Calvert Esquire Ten Shillings Sterling for his Lordships Use (it being the Alienation fine on the within mentioned Land Supposing the same to contain no more than five Hundred Acres) by Virtue of a Commission from Benj.a Tasker Esq.r his said Lordships Agent & Receiver General Rich.d Dorsey 7 Recorded August 31.st 1752 Ex.d Vide Power of Attorney whereon the following Substitution is Endorsed Recorded heretofore in Liber E I N.o 8 folio 602 Maryland fs.t By Virtue of the within Power of Attorney to me given I do hereby Substitute Lancellot Jacques of the City of Annapolis in the Province of Maryland Merchant with like or limitted Power as I am hereby Vested with in the Execution of the Authority within mentioned and I do Ratify and Confirm all and whatsoever he shall do and Transact by Virtue thereof In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this 11.th March 1752 Signed Sealed and Delivered in Presence of V Denton Seal DWeems Will.m Lux Underneath the aforegoing Substitution was thus Written Viz.t Aug.t 5.th 1752 Came the above named William Lux and made Oath before Us Two of his Lordships Justices of Baltimore County That he did see and hear the above Vachel Denton Sign Seal and Delivery the above Substitution as his Act and Deed for the Uses therein mentioned and did thereto set his name, Subscribed as a Witness and that the respective Names DWeems and Will.m Lux are of their respective hand Writings 2 Jn.o Paca Recorded Sept.r 1.st 1752 Sam.l Owings |
