       July 23 1751   Then Came before me the Subscriber one of his Lordships the Right
       Honourable the Lord Propry his Justices of the Provincial Court Cap.t Alexander
       Cumming and made Oath on the Holy Evangels of Almighty God That he saw
       William Tower Bartholomew Pomeroy and Joseph Janson Assignees of John
       Philpot and John Hutchinson of London Merchants Sign Seal and Deliver a
       Certain Power of Attorney to Bryan Philpot Jun.r of Maryland as their
       Several Acts and Deeds and to and for the several Uses Intents and Purposes
       therein mentioned and that he signed his Name as an Evidence thereto and that
       he also saw Joseph Keaton the other Subscribing Evidence Sign his Name as
       an Evidence thereto

       July the 22.d 1751   Then Came Mary Rawlings Wife of the within Named Daniel
       Rawlings before me the Subscriber one of his Lordships Justices of the Provincial Court
       and being by me privately Examined out of the hearing of her said Husband Acknowledged
       her Right of Dower to the Lands and Premisses within mentioned and that
       she made the same Acknowledgement willingly and freely without being
       Induced thereto by Fears or Threats of or Ill Usage by her Husband or fear of his

Ex.d Maryland fs.t   This Indenture made this Eighteenth Day of February in the Year of
       our Lord One Thousand Seven hundred fifty and one Between Thomas Barkley of Kent
       County Merchant of the one part and Thomas Williamson of the City of Annapolis in Ann Arundel
       County Innholder of the other ^part^ Witnesseth That Whereas John Bickerton of Ann Arundel County
       aforesaid by his Indenture bearing date the Seventeenth Day of March in the Year of our Lord
       One Thousand seven hundred and forty nine made by him the said John Bickerton of the one
       part and the said Thomas Barkley and Thomas Williamson (now parties to these Presents) of
       the other part He the said John Bickerton for and in Consideration of forty eight Pounds four
       Shillings and one Penny Sterling Money to him in hand paid by the said Thomas Barkley
       and Thomas Williamson before the ensealing and delivery thereof the receipt whereof was
       thereby Acknowledged Had Bargained Sold Granted Aliened and Confirmed And by these
       Presents Did Clearly and Absolutely Bargain Sell Grant Alien and Confirm unto the said
       Thomas Barkley and Thomas Williamson their Heirs and Assigns for ever All that Tract of
       Land lying in Ann Arundel County aforesaid called Hunts Chance on the Main Branch of
       Halls Creek containing by Estimation three hundred and fifty Acres Together with all
       Buildings Improvements and Advantages whatsoever belonging or thereto appertaining
       as also two Negro Men named Pompey and Hercules To have and to hold the said Tract of
       Land and all and singular the Appurtenances unto the said Thomas Barkley and Thomas
       Williamson their Heirs and Assigns forever and to have and to hold the said Negroes Pompey
       and Hercules unto the said Thomas Barkley and Thomas Williamson their Executors
       Administrators and Assigns And Whereas in the said recited Indenture there is the
