574) Ex.d This Indenture made the twenty Second day of May in the Year of our Lord God One Thousand seven hundred and forty nine Between George Lewis of Queen Annes County in the Province of Maryland Son and Heir of Thomas Lewis of the same Place Deceased ^of the one part & Thomas Hammond of the said County & Province of the other Part^ Witnesseth that the s.d George Lewis for and in Consideration of the Sum of thirty Pounds Current Money and seven Thousand Pounds of Tobacco to him in hand paid by the said Thomas Hammond the Receipt whereof the said George Lewis doth hereby acknowledge and for other good Causes him the said George Lewis thereto moving Hath by these Presents Bargained Sold Granted Alienated Enfeofft and Confirmed unto the said Thomas Hammond and his Heirs for Ever Sixty one Acres of Land lying and being in Queen Annes County and Province afs.d and on the South side of Corsica Creek being part of a Tract of Land Originally Granted to John Bogue for three hundred and fifty Acres called Bougly which part now Sold Begins on Corsica Creek and at the Mouth of a Cove which in the Original Survey is called Bougus Branch it being the Place where the first Beginning Tree of the Primitive Survey did stand & from the s.d Place running up the said Creek by a Line drawn East North East One hundred and Ten Perches to the Place where the Division Tree Between Thomas and John Lewis did stand binding on the North with the s.d Creek and by a Streight Line drawn from the End of the East North East Line untill it Intersects the Nearest Corner of a Parcell of Land being part of Bougly and Sold by the said George Lewis to Coll Richard Tilghman thence Running with the said Tilghmans Land by a Line drawn West South West One hundred Perches untill it Intersects the Westermost Bounds of the Original Survey then by a Line drawn North to the afs.d Cove then binding with the said Cove and Creek to the first Beginning To have and to hold the said Sixty one Acres of Land according to the Bounds & Courses herein mentioned Contain they more or less with all the Rights Priviledges and Appurtenances whatsoever thereto belonging unto the said Thomas Hammond and his Heirs for Ever and the said (George) |
