533) set his Hand and Affixed his Seal the Day and Year above Written Sign.d seal.d & Delivered Samuel Hopkins seal in the Presence of On the back of the aforegoing Deed Arthur Rigby was thus Endorsed (Viz.t) Ann Middleton Ann Arundel County fs.t I the Subscriber one of his Lordships the Right Honourable the Lord Proprietor his Justice of the Provincial Court do hereby Certify that on the Tenth Day of November Anno Dom one Thousand seven Hundred and Forty eight the within Named Samuel Hopkins did Acknowledge the within Instrument of Writing to be his Act and Deed and the Lands and Premisses therein mentioned to be the Right of Philip Rigby Robert Gordon November the 10.th 1748 Received of Philip Rigby the Sum of Five Thousand Pounds of Tobacco it being the Purchase of the within Bargained Premisses Rc.d P Samuell Hopkins Testes Ann Middleton Arthur Rigby Reced (Nov.r the 10.th 1748) of M.r Philip Rigby the Sum of three Shillings and seven pence three farthings Sterling for his Lordships Use (it being the Alienation fine on the within mentioned Lands) by Virtue of a Commission from Benj.a Tasker Esq.r his said Lordships Agent and Receiver General Recorded Nov.r 23.d 1748 Rich.d Dorsey 7 X.d I John Brice one of the Judges of the Provincial Court do hereby Certify that Edmund Jenings Esq.r Secretary and Notary Publick of the Province of Maryland on the 28.th Day of November 1748 did make Oath before me that he would well faithfully and Impartially to the best of his Skill and Knowledge Execute his said Offices and that he would not willingly or wittingly Charge Ask take exact or Demand (any) |
