          On the Back of the aforegoing Power of Attorney was
       thus Endorsed (Viz.t)

       Maryland 2.d Sept.r 1748 Christopher Grindall of London
       Mariner made Oath on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty
       God before me one of his Lordships Provincial Justices
       that he the said Deponant was present at the Execution
       of the within Instrument and did see and hear the within
       Named Robert Stebbing (and who appears to have
       Signed the same) Seal and Deliver the same as his
       Act and Deed for the Uses within mentioned and I did
       also see the within Named Christopher Grindall
       present at the said Execution and did also see him
       Sign his Name thereto as Witness and that the said
       Deponants Name within wrote as Witness is of his the
6 1/2 said Deponants hand Writing
       Recorded Sept.r 6.th 1748   Sworn to before me      Robert Gordon

Ex.d                      Know all Men by these Presents that I
       John Roberts of Ann Arundel County Planter am held and
       firmly Bound unto William Thornton of said County
       Gent.n in the full and just Sum of Two Hundred and
       fifty Pounds Currency to be paid to the said William
       Thornton his Certain Attorney Execut.rs Adm.rs or
       Assigns to the which payment well and truly to be made
       and done I bind myself my Heirs Execut.rs Adm.rs &
       Assigns firmly by these Presents Sealed with my
       Seal and dated this 26.th August 1748

       Whereas at a County Court held at the City of Annapolis
       the Ninth Day of August 1748 the above mentioned
       W.m Thornton and John Roberts became Sec^u^rities
       for the Ballance of a Certain Eliazer Birkhead his
