277) Residence of the Governour of this Province for the time being any Quantity of Ground within the fence of the City of Annapolis either in the Old Town the Addition thereto or the Town Common or Pasture so as the same exceed not the Quantity of four Acres to be Inclosed or Used as Gardens Yards or Other Conveniences for the Buildings af.d and Whereas the Building and Erecting the said House is begun and a Considerable Progress made therein upon the most Comodious Place for that purpose within the fence of the City of Annapolis which Place is part of a Tract of Land for which Thomas Bordley Esquire Deceased Father of the said Stephen Bordley and Thomas Larkin Esquire also Deceased Obtained a Grant and made partition between them of the Land therein Contained which same Grant was afterwards Vacated by Decree of the Court of Chancery of Maryland from which Decree the said Stephen Bordley hath Petitioned for and Obtained and Appeal to the high Court of Appeals And Whereas in Order to Extinguish all Claims Disputes and Controversies whatsoever concerning his the said Stephen Bordleys Right or Title to the said four Acres of Land it was agreed and Assented to by the Representatives of the Peoples of Maryland in Assembly Convened that the said Stephen Bordley should be paid the sum of Two hundred Pounds Current money of Maryland for his Claim to the said four Acres of Land Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said Stephen Bordley for and in Consideration of the said Sum of Two hundred Pounds Current money af.d to him in hand paid by the said Thomas Bladen the Receipt whereof is hereby Acknowledged hath Granted Released made Over and Confirmed and forever Quit Claim unto the said Thomas Bladen Esquire all those four Acres of Land lying and being within the fence of the City af.d on the North side of Tabornacle Street and Butted and Bounded as followeth to wit Beginning at a Bounded Post standing on the North side of the side of the said street and Runing thence North thirty Nine Degrees West twenty five Perches and six tenth parts of a perch to Another bounded Post thence south fifty one Degrees West twenty five perches to another (Bounded) |
