        Maryland fs            February 12.th 1731

                      Memorandum that on the 12.th day of February
       Came the within Mencond William Chapman before Benjam.n
       Tasker Esq.r one of his Lordships Justices of the Provincial
       Court and acknowledged the within Deed and the Land and
       premisses therein Mencond to be the right and estate of
9 1/2 sides   Charles Carroll Esq.r according to the Act of Assembly in such
       Cases made and provided

       (Recorded this 14.th day of March 1731)

x.d            By this Publick Instrument of procuration or
       Letter of Attorney be it Known that on the ninth day of
       December A.o Dm 1731 Before me Thomas Browne Notary
       Publick dwelling in London Duly admitted & sworn and in
       the presence of the witnesses hereafter named Personally
       appeared Mess.rs Nathaniel Focke of Cornhill
       London Linnen Draper James Peirce of Fanchurch Street
       London Sadler and John Wood of Stradford in the County
       of Essex Gent administrators of the Goods rights and Credits of
       Hugh Arbuthnot Late of London Merchant Deceased Who
       Declared to have made ordained constituted & appointed
       and by these presents doe in the quality aforesaid jointly
       make Ordain Constitute and appoint M.r George Buchanan
       Merchant on the Easter Branch of the River Potomack
       in Maryland and M.r John Buchanan of London Merch.t
       their true and Lawfull attornies Giveing and hereby
       Granting unto their said attornies jointly & severally
       full power Lawfull and absolute authority for them the
       Said Constituants in their names in the quality aforesaid
       and to their use to ask Demand sue for & by all Lawfull
       waies and means to Recover and receive of and from
       all and Every Person & Persons of what Degree or qualitysoever
       whom it shall or may Concern inhabiting in Virginia
       Maryland or else where all and singular such sum and
       sums of money Goods wares merchandizes Effects
       Estate and things whatsoever which they the said person
       and persons now doe or shall hereafter owe and stand
       indebted or have in their or any of their hands Custody
       or possession due oweing Belonging or in any wise
       appurtaining unto the Estate of the said Hugh Arbuthnot
       Deceased or to them the said Constituants as
