Cash p.d  To all Christian People to Whome this Present Writing
       Shall Come I Abraham Birckhead Sen.r of Ann Arundell County in the
       Province of Maryland Send Greeting Know Ye that I the Said
       Abraham Birckhead Sen.r As well for & in Consideration of the Natural
       Love & Affection which I bear to my well beloved Grand Daughter
       Susanna Birckhead my son Abraham Birckheads Eldest Daughter
       of Charles County in the Province af.d as allsoe for Divers Other Good
       Causes & Considerations me hereunto moveing have given & granted &
       by these Presents Do give Grant & Confirme unto the Said Susannah
       Birckhead a Certain Negroe Gairle Named Joan To have & to hold
       the s.d Negro Gaile unto the s.d Susannah Birckhead her heirs Ex.rs or Adm.rs
       to her Own Proper use & behoofe for Ever without any Manner
       of Challenge Claim or Demand from me the s.d Abraham Birckhead
       or from any other Person or Persons Whatsoever for me or Authorizd
       or Procurd by me & without any money or Other Thing to be Yeilded
       therefore unto me the s.d Abraham Birckhead my heirs Ex.rs or Adm.rs
       & the s.d Abraham Birckhead the af.d Negroe Girle to the s.d Susannah
       Birckhead her heirs Ex.rs & Adm.rs to the Use af.d Against all People
       do & will Warrant & for ever Defend by these Presents In
       Witness Whereof I have hereunto Set my hand & Affixed my
       Seal this fifteenth Day of March Anno Domini 1734
