Sec. 2. And be it further enacted by the General Assembly of
Maryland, That this Act shall take effect on July 1, 1970.

CHAPTER 92
(House Bill 1124)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 12 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Caroline County (1965 Edition,
being Article 6 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland),
title "Caroline County," subtitle "County Commissioners," to re-
vise the salary of the Board of County Commissioners of Caroline
County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 12 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Caroline County
(1965 Edition, being Article 6 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland), title "Caroline County," subtitle "County Commission-
ers," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments,
to read as follows:

12.

The County Commissioners of Caroline County shall each receive,
in lieu of the per diem and mileage, an annual salary of [eighteen
hundred dollars ($1,800.00)] thirty-six hundred dollars ($3,600.00)
payable quarterly, and all necessary traveling expenses when travel-
ing on county business outside of the county. The President of the
County Commissioners of Caroline County shall receive four hun-
dred dollars ($400.00) as additional compensation to that provided
above.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That nothing in this Act shall
be construed or applied to affect the salary of the members of the
Board of County Commissioners of Caroline County who are in office
on the effective date of this Act, for the remainder of the terms in
which they are then serving. It is the legislative intent that any
increase in salary for the Board of County Commissioners of Caro-
line County shall take effect as of the beginning of the term of the
County Commissioners elected to that position at the time of the next
regular election.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That subject to the provisions
of Section 2 hereinabove, this Act shall take effect on July 1, 1970.
