Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 21 (n) be and it is hereby added to Article 66B
of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1969 Supplement), title "Zon-
ing and Planning," subtitle "Planning," subheading "Title 2—Zon-
ing," to follow immediately after Section 21 (m) thereof, to read as
follows:

21.

(n) In Worcester County, notwithstanding any other provisions
of the law, the County Commissioners, upon the zoning or rezoning
of any land or lands, may impose such restrictions, conditions or
limitations as may be deemed by them to be appropriate to preserve,
improve or protect the general character and design of the lands
and improvements being zoned or rezoned, or of the surrounding or
adjacent lands and improvements, and may, upon the zoning or re-
zoning of any land or lands, retain or reserve the power and au-
thority to approve or disapprove the design of buildings, construc-
tion, landscaping or other improvements, alterations, and changes
made or to be made on the subject land or lands to assure conformity
with the intent and purpose of this article and of the county zoning
ordinance.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.

CHAPTER 385
(House Bill 1417)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 40 (x)
of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1969 Supple-
ment), title "Attorneys At Law And Attorneys In Fact," subtitle
"State's Attorney," to amend the State's Attorney's allowance for
clerical expenses and secretarial services in Worcester County.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 40 (x) of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1969 Supplement), title "Attorneys At Law And Attorneys
In Fact," subtitle "State's Attorney," be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

40.

(x) In Worcester County, (1) the State's Attorney's salary is
eight thousand dollars ($8,000.00) to be paid in equal monthly in-
stallments and the County Commissioners shall provide him with
suitable office space in the courthouse.

(2) The State's Attorney's allowance for clerical expenses is
[one] two thousand dollars [($1,000.00)] ($2,000.00), and his al-
lowance for secretarial services is [three] four thousand dollars
[($3,000.00)] ($4,000.00). These are also to be paid in equal
monthly installments.
