Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 39A be and it is hereby added to Article 87 of
the Annotated Code of Maryland (1969 Replacement Volume), title
"Sheriffs," subtitle "Compensation and Duties," to follow immedi-
ately after Section 39 thereof, and to read as follows:
39A.
Whenever any sale of realty or personalty is required to be made
by the Sheriff of Harford County as part of his official duties, the
Sheriff may employ an auctioneer of his choice to conduct the
sale and to charge the costs to the debtor. The debtor shall be
primarily liable, but if the proceeds of the sale are insufficient to
satisfy the costs, the creditor shall be liable for the balance of costs
due.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 51(d)
of Article 25 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1966 Replace-
ment Volume), title "County Commissioners," subtitle "County
Treasurers,"; Section 40(s) of Article 10 of said Code (1968
Replacement Volume), title "Attorneys at Law and Attorneys in
Fact," subtitle "State's Attorney,"; and Section 2-108(r) of
Article 93 of said Code (1969 Replacement Volume), title "De-
cedents' Estates," subtitle "The Court," subheading "The Probate
Court," to change the salaries of the St. Mary's County Treasurer,
State's Attorney, and Probate Court judges and to provide a salary
for the Assistant State's Attorney.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 51(d) of Article 25 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1966 Replacement Volume), title "County Commissioners,"
subtitle "County Treasurers," be and it is hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
51.
(d) St. Mary's County treasurer and clerk.—The county treasurer
of St. Mary's County shall receive an annual salary of [$5,000.00]
$9,000.00 $7,000.00. The clerk to the county treasurer shall receive
an annual salary to be fixed by the County Commissioners.
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That Section 40(s) of Article
10 of said Code (1968 Replacement Volume), title "Attorneys at Law
and Attorneys in Fact," subtitle "State's Attorney," be and it is
hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
