(s) St. Mary's County.—In St. Mary's County, the State's At-
torney's salary is [seven thousand five hundred dollars ($7,500.00)]
fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000.00).
The State's Attorney may appoint an assistant State's attorney.
The assistant State's attorney [shall be paid an annual salary to be
determined by the County Commissioners] 's salary is seven thou-
sand five hundred dollars ($7,500.00).
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That Section 2-108(r) of
Article 93 of said Code (1969 Replacement Volume), title "De-
cedents' Estates," subtitle "The Court," subheading "The Probate
Court," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:
2-108.
(r) St. Mary's County.—Each of the judges of the court for St.
Mary's County shall receive [fifteen dollars ($15) for every day's
attendance upon the sessions of the court] an annual salary of
six hundred dollars ($600.00). Each judge shall also be allowed [one
hundred dollars ($100)] three hundred dollars ($300.00) per year
for traveling expenses, payable quarterly.
Sec. 4. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.

(House Bill 256)
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 300 of
Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1967 Replacement
Volume), title "Crimes and Punishments," subtitle "Health—Nar-
cotic Drugs," providing that the possession and OR use of mari-
huana shall be a misdemeanor and, providing penalties for the
possession, use and sale, DISPENSING, GIVING AWAY, OR
OTHERWISE DISPOSING of marihuana and generally relating
thereto, PROVIDING FOR THE APPLICATION OF THE PRO-
VISIONS OF THE ACT TO CERTAIN PROCEEDINGS AND
GENERALLY RELATING TO MARIHUANA.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 300 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1967 Replacement Volume), title "Crimes and Punishments,"
subtitle "Health—Narcotic Drugs," be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, and to read as follows:

(a) Any person who violates the provisions of Sections 277, 291,
or 295 of this subtitle with regard to any narcotic drug specified
