Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 40(o) (1) of Article 10 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1968 Replacement Volume), title "Attorneys At Law and
Attorneys In Fact," subtitle "State's Attorneys," be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
40.
(o) In Kent County, (1) the State's Attorney's salary is [six]
eight thousand dollars [($6,000)] ($8,000).
Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That the provisions of this Act
shall not be construed to extend or apply to the salary of the State's
Attorney in office on the effective date of this Act, but the provi-
sions of this Act concerning the salary of the State's Attorney shall
take effect at the beginning of the next following term of office.
Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take effect
July 1, 1970.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 37(n)
of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1969 Replace-
ment Volume), title "Sheriffs," subtitle "Compensation and Du-
ties," to increase the salary of the sheriff in Kent County.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 37 (n) of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1969 Replacement Volume), title "Sheriffs," subtitle "Com-
pensation and Duties," be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:
37.
(n) The Sheriff of Kent County shall receive an annual salary of
[$6,500.00] $7,500.00 $8,000.00 and $750 annually during his term to-
ward an automobile or automobiles, as may be deemed necessary by
the County Commissioners to be used by him and his deputies for gen-
eral work of the office. He may appoint not more than two deputies
who shall receive an annual salary of $5,500.00 and an allowance to be
made by the County Commissioners to the Sheriff and his deputy
or deputies for such mileage as may be accumulated in the course
of their duties at the same rate as paid other county officials and
employees and other such additional allowances as the Commis-
sioners may deem necessary.
