Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 409 (d) of Article 41 of the Annotated Code of Mary-
land (1965 Replacement Volume and 1969 Supplement), title "Gov-
ernor—Executive and Administrative Departments," subtitle "Com-
mission on Negro History and Culture," be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

409.

[(d) The Commission shall submit to the Governor and the Gen-
eral Assembly, not later than October 1, 1969, an interim progress
report of its procedures, plans and accomplishments. Not later than
March 1, 1970, the Commission shall submit to the Governor and
the General Assembly a comprehensive final report, complete with
all its findings and recommendations. On April 1, 1970, the Com-
mission shall cease to exist, unless prior to that date the Governor
extends its existence and work to some definite future date; and
on whatever day the Commission ceases to exist all its records,
materials, and properties shall be turned over to the Board of Public
Works for storage, distribution, or disposition.]

(d) The existence of the Commission shall be extended to the end
of the 1971 session of the Maryland General Assembly, and the
Commission shall complete its work by that time.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency measure and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public health and safety and having been
passed by a yea and nay vote supported by three-fifths of all the
members elected to each of the two Houses of the General Assembly,
the same shall take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 130
(Senate Bill 556)

AN ACT to add new Section 224C to Article 56 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1969 Supplement), title "Licenses," subtitle
"Real Estate Brokers," to follow immediately after Section 224B
thereof, to permit the Real Estate Commission to temporarily
suspend the license of a broker who fails to promptly account
for funds held in trust or to display records upon demand.

Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That new Section 224C be and it is hereby added to Article 56 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1969 Supplement), title "Licenses,"
subtitle "Real Estate Brokers," to follow immediately after Section
224B thereof, and to read as follows:

224C.

The Commission may temporarily suspend the license of any
broker who fails to promptly account for any funds held in trust,
